Introductions
Welcome to ENGL 1101, Back to the Future! I’m Dr. Rose, a professor in the Writing and Communication Program here at Tech and the Assistant Director of Assessment. I earned my PhD from Emory University, where I specialized in literature of the English Renaissance, Environmental Theory, and Digital Humanities. Since coming to Tech, I have expanded my research and teaching to include Critical Race Studies and community based learning. This class synthesizes all my interests and hopefully provokes yours! Together we will explore and create ideas and images of the future even as it becomes increasingly uncertain.
On a personal note, I have two great kids, one funny dog, and one terrific husband. I live about 40 miles south of ATL in Newnan, GA. When I am not sheltering in place, I love to go to BBQ’s and the beach. I am originally from Reno, NV and hope to be able to visit home as soon as its safe! I figure this isn’t the way you all imagined your first classes at Tech would be conducted, but I hope you are all safe and as happy as possible. I want to do everything in my power to support you this semester, so don’t hesitate to email me with any questions or comments.
